Animal Rescue at The Pettit Preserve

Pre- School – 3 year olds – Children rescue animals along a short section of the trail, cross the swinging bridge, and catch insects on the spillway by the 9-acre lake. Class at the Lakeside Amphitheater includes poetry about the rescued  animals, then children head back to The Learning Shed to complete a craft.

Toyo Tires’ Trail Hike

Pre-School – 4 year olds – Children will hike to the creek, stopping along the way to learn about lichen, habitats,  leaf litter, birds, plants, and animals. They will cross the 36 foot swinging bridge, catch insects on the spillway by the  lake, learn about beavers and examine a beaver stick. Class at The Lakeside Amphitheater includes how animals use their senses of smell and hearing, how owls move their heads, and how we use our peripheral vision. Children will make a pinecone bird feeder at The Learning Shed.
